Visit Dawn's web-site
Book Summary:

Fit, feisty and funny Rachael Harrison has conflicting dark fantasies, ranging from being "taken" to being in control. Unsatisfied with her romantic life in England, she returns to the place of her youth, Meadow Ridge County, Texas, where unconventional relationships are the norm.

When Rachael meets Joshua Ryden, the serious and dominant owner of Sweet Water Ranch, the level of mutual attraction is intense. However, Rachael believes that Joshua wants to share her with his brother and backs off. The situation is resolved by Joshua’s sister, Janet, a sexually inexperienced college student, who finally acts upon her long standing love for the very experienced Deputy Sherriff, Mitch Mathews. They embark upon a passionate and humorous romance.

After Joshua helps protect Rachael’s veterinarian career and professional reputation from a source of unfounded slander, their relationship strengthens. They become even more sexually voracious and creative as Rachael demonstrates to Joshua that he can also give up control occasionally--with explosively passionate results.

I enjoyed this book....I love the family interaction between James, Joshua and Janet. Joshua is Alpha and smokin', Rachael knows what she wants and goes for it, I love that she can go toe to toe with him. Mitch and
Janet are hot together, I hope we get a full story for them. I can't wait until James and Luke's book...and do I dare speculate Rachael's friend is going to give them a run for their money ;-)

NEVER say NEVER - Tablet vs Kindle

I am not one for change....here is proof I should NEVER say NEVER:

D's Naughty Kindle
I was one of THOSE who SWORE I would NEVER get an e-reader, because I LOVE paper back books.  UNTIL....One day last year I was heading to a HS football game, on a school bus, with College Brat's dance team.  I was BORED, so I downloaded the Kindle app to my phone. I was instantly addicted, evidently I found my "crack", within a month of that I took the plunge and bought the Kindle 3G, yep I was deep in my addiction, the Kindle took on a life of it's own, it earned the name Naughty Kindle. About a month later B&N had the nerve to come out the Color Nook, guess what my words were, I'm not buying a color Nook, my NK is perfect, why do I need color to read a book, my only complaint about the Kindle was no back light, so I had to buy an e-reader light. With shame, I have to admit I cheated on NK, I went into Best Buy and fondled the color Nook, it was so tempting all those pretty colors and the backlight, but alas, like most things pretty it caught my eye but not enough to abandon my NK (even though I secretly longed for the pretty colors and touch feature Nook had).   A couple months later my mom started reading on her ipad, can you guess what I said??  I'm NEVER going to get a tablet, my netbook and Naughty Kindle are all I need.

Months go by, College Brat is getting ready to leave for College, so I think what am I going to do with my time now...thus Book Pimps' Reviews was born, a short while later I started Naughty Cougar Tales.  A few months into having both review sites, I realized how nice a tablet would be, I could check my emails, read in various e-formats and even post on my blogs all on one little device....Little being the key word...see I like the ipad and I REALLY like the Toshiba tablet, but I LOVE the size of my Naughty Kindle.   The opportunity came up for me to get the Samsung Galaxy 7" tablet. I was like, sure I would love to try it.  It caught my eye because it has a place for an SD card for memory, the pretty colors of color Nook and is the size of a Kindle.

My new toy came today.....and it shall be named ZEUS, the name came to me after playing with it for umm....5 minutes.   Is it the best out there?  IDK I'm not technically savvy enough to say that, but I can say for ME it is IT!!

UPDATE after playing with Zeus:
I am LOVING Zeus (my new tablet) but....if you just want just an ereader and not something with the all tbe tablet functions, I strongly suggest staying with the Kindle products. Kindle is super user friendly. Don't get me wrong my tablet is pretty user friendly and I need the convenience of reading all formats of ebooks, including kindle, that I get with the tablet, but Kindle has the best e-reader out there. If I was a newbie to the world, of ebooks, I would be lost trying to figure what format to use and how to download to the tablet.

Meet my new friend Zeus

(Samsung Galazy 7" tablet)

Naughty Kindle and Zeus - will live together in harmony

Review - Animal Attraction (bk 2 Animal Magnetism) by Jill Shalvis

Description: Contemporary Romance
Visit Jill's web-site
Summary:
Jade Bennett couldn't be happier to escape her past for the quiet ranching town of Sunshine, Idaho. Plus, there's nothing like working for veterinarian Dell Connelly. And though Dell has no intention of settling down, Jade's strength and sass are enticements no red-blooded male can resist.

Excerpt:

Chapter 1
“Come on, baby,” he murmured. “Give it up for me. You know you want to.”
Jade Bennett did her best to ignore the way the low, sexy voice made her shiver. Besides, it wasn’t aimed at her. Dr. Dell Connelly; dog whisperer, cat whisperer, horse whisperer, and known woman whisperer … was talking to a stray kitten.
The feline in question huddled miserably beneath the bench seat in Dell’s vet center waiting room, staring at him from narrowed eyes, clearly having none of the sweet talk. She was a scruffy/mangy grayish brown with sharp green eyes, and like Jade, not swayed by sweet talkers.
“Huh,” Jade said from behind the reception counter. “Most females leap right into your arms at the slightest encouragement.”
Dell craned his neck and regarded her from eyes as dark as his secrets. “Not all.”
There was a beat of silence during which she did her best not to break eye contact. He was right. Not all females, otherwise she’d have made the leap.

D's Review:
One thing about Jill Shalvis' books is she brings the characters to life from the moment you first meet them.  In Animal Magnetism (bk 1), we meet Jade, the well dressed but private, spreadsheet addicted, office assistant/organizer/book-keeper of Dell's large animal clinic. (I was intrigued by Jade, I really wanted to know her story, it was obvious she was hiding a hurt or something).   Dell, the easy going, fun loving, unorganized, laid back animal loving ALPHA, who doesn't do relationships...PERIOD, he never lets a woman leave him, he leaves first.   A match made in heaven..NOT!!!

For 18 months Jade and Dell have ignored the chemistry and attraction sizzling between them.  Jade because Dell doesn't do relationships and her stay in Sunshine has always been temporary, she is there to heal from an experience she had at home in Chicago.  She plans to return to Chicago as soon as she is healed to help with her family business.  Dell has "good-bye" issues, mostly because of time spent in foster homes, he has "love em and leave em" down pat.   BUT there is something about Jade that calls to him, but he refuses to give in because he knows she's leaving.   The "tit for tat" flirtatious banter between Jade and Dell is some of the funniest I've read. Jade has a dry, quick wit (reminds me of me) and Dell doesn't know how to handle a woman who doesn't fall for his sexy charm.   I have to say, I did cry for Dell, he has some demons to work through and when he's ready, the person he needs hasn't figured out what she is doing with her life, my heart broke with his every time he tried to get Jade to see there was a place for her with him.

In book one, Animal Magnetism, I loved the camaraderie of Dell, Adam and Brady. Three big, sexy men who give each other hell, but you can tell they have an unbreakable bond and love each other.   I am so glad we got to see more of it in AA.  Added into the guys banter was Lilah, she is still giving them hell and trying to play matchmaker between Dell and Jade.

Animal Attraction is a fun, steamy, emotional read with an engaging cast of characters. I loved both the H/h, the secondary cast is funny, loving and meddling. AND we get more animals that come close to stealing the spotlight from the H/h, Peanut the parrot, Gertie the St Bernard and Bones the abandoned kitten.  ABSOLUTELY adorable!!!  I love the way JS includes the animals in this series, I could vividly see each of their personalities.

NOW to wait for Adam's story, I have a feeling his is going to be even more emotional, along with being a funny and HOT one!!    I also wonder....will we see more of Sam, Jade's cousin??????

Review Blood and Bone by Dawn Brown

Book Description: Romantic Suspense, not erotic but the chemistry is strong and when the lovin' comes it is super hot!!!

The following was my facebook status the night I read Blood and Bone:
"Holy Crap! I'm reading a REALLY good suspense romance...first time author for me and I'm freakin creeped out by some of the characters because she's described them so clearly...the whole time I'm reading it I have creepy music running through my head. I'm about half way through and can't figure out which crazy did it. No its not one of my super smut reads either ;-)"

Book Summary:
The deeper they dig into the past, the closer they come to a killer.

Crime writer Shayne Reynolds is looking for the next book that’ll get her out of her parents’ basement and on track to rebuilding her life. She’s found it in Robert Anderson, a confessed murderer who’s out on parole. Something’s never added up about that case.

From the moment she sets foot in Dark Water, nothing goes as planned. Anderson’s family wants her to drop the story—especially surviving son Des. A man who ignites sizzling heat even as he stands firmly in her way.

Laboring under his father’s crushing legacy and his grandmother’s iron resolve to get rid of the nosy writer at any cost, Des struggles to save the self-destructive sister who once saved him. There’s something honest and forthright about Shayne, though, that tempts him to help her get to the truth. Even if it means double-crossing his powerful grandmother.

Despite their resolve to keep it strictly business, sexual sparks quickly set fire to tangled emotions. And threads of a fragile bond that someone with a vendetta could use to weave their death shroud…

Warning: This story contains a feisty writer, a sexy younger man and a mystery with enough twists and turns to cause vertigo.

Naughty D's Review:
As I stated above, this book was a page turner, Ms. Brown totally drew me into Shayne and Des' messed up world.  There are so many twists and turns in this book that I can't really review content without spoiling and I don't want to spoil a single bit of it.

What I can say is most romantic suspense I've read have to deal with some type of military/secret service type plot, Blood and Bone does not, it is set in a small town full of dirty secrets and shady characters. Des and Shayne are not some gun toting ex military or law enforcement type, they are two people caught up in a dangerous game of deception and murder, all centered around Des' family.   I totally fell in love with the vulnerable but tough Shayne and the can't seem to get anything right, underdog Des. Don't get me wrong, Des is not a wimp, just one of those people who is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

I love to watch a scary/suspense movie that has me sleeping with a night light and scared to go outside after it's over.  What scares me is NOT slasher scenes with a mask wearing, chainsaw wielding freak, it is the mental fear that gets me, when people are playing with the victim's minds. When "normal" people are behind the murder and mayhem.  When I can't figure out who the heck is the bad guy. Blood and Bone is this kind of book, every time I thought I figured out who it was, a new twist came up. The descriptions written so well I could clearly see the areas of the town Ms. Brown described, I could even hear crickets chirping along with the creepy music running through my head.

There wasn't one moment where I was bored with this book, I honestly could not put Blood and Bone down until I finished it.  It is definitely a chilling romantic suspense with just enough emotional ups & downs, sex, humor and twists and turns to keep the reader totally enthralled.  I could totally see this as a made for TV movie on Lifetime.

I will be adding Dawn Brown to my auto buy list.

Hail to the V?????

SOOOOO...I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do turn it on for background noise and if College Brat is home it's always on. So I occasionally see commercials.  This commercial I've seen a number of times but never paid attention to it, until last week, it took me a few minutes to realize what they were talking about and I still wasn't sure, so the next time I heard it come on I payed close attention..and BUSTED out laughing when I realized it was a Summer's Eve commercial talking about the power of the "V" throughout history.  College Brat looked at me like I was a dumb ass...when I told her I just caught what it meant...lol.

D's Review:
Jamie and Dylan are up there with Noah and Samara as my favorite LCR H/h.  Sweet Revenge is fast paced, emotional, a definite page turner with some twists and surprises thrown in.  The chemistry between Jamie and Dylan is off the charts hot and the banter between the two of them is extremely entertaining.   Jamie is such a strong woman, even after everything she has been through. She shocked Noah by standing up to him and making him give her what she wanted.  Dylan, Dylan, Dylan....is such a sweetheart under all the grumpiness and grouching...There is a part where he tells Jamie what she reminds him of that is so sweet it brought tears to my eyes.  TBH when he admits to himself he's in love with her, their first kiss and their first time are some of the sweetest scenes I've ever seen from a total Alpha male.  Jamie and Dylan are just a perfect couple, they both have horrible baggage, but find healing and comfort in each other.

It was great to see some of the other LCR H/h in Sweet Revenge...and of course it wouldn't be a LCR if Noah didn't try to play cupid at least once.

The only thing I hated about this book is after the acknowledgment there is a page that says "Turn the page for a sneak peek at Sweet Reward, the final novel."  I hate to see the series come to an end...but per my interview on 9/1/11, with Christy, Sweet Reward is the end of LCR, however she is working on something new that I have faith will be just as AWESOME...BUT I HATE TO SEE THE LAST of NOAH and the LCR family.   However......I wonder what happens to the young Raphael??????

D's Review
What a SWEET, SEXY Christmas love story!!! I finished this book with a smile, a sigh and the strong urge to find me a cowboy to go looking for mistletoe and a Christmas tree with.

There is no suspense, no hidden agendas, this is a touching story about two people fighting their feelings towards each other out of a sense of guilt to Libby's deceased husband, who happened to be Holden's Best friend. Holden knew he wanted a HEA with Libby but she wanted to leave Laramie, TX in her rear view mirror.  They decide to be each other's "rebound" romance to get through the lonely holidays and to dip their toes in the dating world. They never planned on finding a HEA with each other.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fact that throughout the book Holden was wooing Libby. I loved their "dates", his blatant flirting and watching Libby come out of her shell.

The secondary cast, consisting of Holden's family, are loveable, meddlesome and the family relationships are realistic.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out that A COWBOY TO MARRY is part of an exiisting mini-series by CGT. It can be read as a stand alone, BUT if you are like me once you read it you are going to want to go back and read the previous McCabe books.

Being a Harlequin American Romance I wasn't expecting a lot of smexin, there was more than I expected and the scenes were sweet, hot and sexy!

Review - Away From Me by Sophie Oak

Book Description: Novella, mild BDSM, Cancer

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I am posting my review for Away From Me by Sophie Oak.  While this story may have a lifestyle in which many may not understand or approve, this is a must read for anyone who has had, known someone or is dealing with Breast Cancer. Have an open mind while reading because it is a BEAUTIFUL story.

Book Summary:
Shattered by the loss of his wife, Callum Reed is a man surrounded by rules designed to protect him. He has found the perfect submissive in Gaby Sullivan, until she breaks his cardinal rule.

After three years of perfect obedience, Gaby declares she wants love. Love isn’t in their contract, so Cal lets her go. But Gaby has a secret reason for leaving. D's thoughts.....
A couple things from the get go...This is the first story I've read from Sophie Oak and I don't care to read novellas, I never seem to get a connection with the characters because the stories are so short...THAT being said...AWAY FROM ME...totally satisfied me, I felt like I knew Gaby and Master Callum.

I seriously wasn't expecting this book to be erotic, BDSM AND emotional. Gaby has been Cal's sub for three years, she wants his love and marriage. Because of the death of his first wife Cal has refused both to love and marry ever again. Something happens to Gaby, that makes her think Cal will never want her again and she decides to leave him, especially since he does not love her. This story is about the road to Cal winning Gaby back. This story may not touch everyone like it did me, maybe it touched me because of the struggles Gaby goes through as a result of her incident....THERE IS A HEA in this story and the part when Gaby "bares all" to Cal and his reaction was tender and sweet.

I can't even say much more about this, just thinking about the story gets the tears flowing. This story hits close to home, not the BDSM part, but because the incident that happens to Gaby has happened to one of my family members, therefore I have witnessed first hand  the emotions and feelings that Gaby goes through about self image.

Review - Nobody's Angel (Rescue Me-Bk 2) By Kallypso Masters

Book Description: Erotic, BDSM

Summary:
Marc d'Alessio might own a BDSM club with his fellow military veterans, Adam and Damián, but he keeps all women at a distance. However, when Marc rescues beautiful Angelina Giardano from a disastrous first BDSM experience at the club, an uncharacteristic attraction leaves him torn between his safe, but lonely world, and a possible future with his angel.

Angelina leaves BDSM behind, only to have her dreams plagued by the Italian angel who rescued her at the club. When she meets Marc at a bar in her hometown, she can't shake the feeling she knows him, but has no idea why he reminds her of her angel.

When Marc's search-and-rescue partner, widower Luke Denton, confides he believes Angelina is the angel his wife promised to send him, Marc is convinced she is meant for Luke. A painful incident from his past keeps Marc from letting any woman drive a wedge between him and a friend.

While Luke can provide Angelina with love and stability, Marc knows his friend can't satisfy her submissive needs. Marc offers one night to show her that BDSM is not about pain, but a power exchange with mutual trust and consent. But he knows he can't commit emotionally to anything more.

When the abusive Dom from Angelina's past threatens, Marc's protective instincts kick in; he must keep her safe. Again at the Masters at Arms Club, she turns the tables on him and turns his safe, controlled world upside down. (Book Two in the RESCUE ME series; follows introduction to series, MASTERS AT ARMS.)

D's Review:
FIRST you must read Masters At Arms to understand why Masters Adam, Marc and Damian are the way they are and how they became partners in a BDSM club.  If you do not read it first you will not "get" everything in Nobody's Angel.  Masters At Arms can be purchased at Smashwords, Barnes & Nobel and Amazon for $.99. At time of this review MAA can be downloaded for free at Smashwords using coupon code QV99H.

AHH Kallypso the stories you tell!!!  Nobody's Angel is NOT your normal BDSM/Erotic Romance, a lot of BDSM play goes on before Master Marc and  Angelina have actual intercourse, but it is paced just right with the story and with the issues both of them have and what they need from each other.

Master Marc is a stubborn, sexy Italian Dom????  Why the ??? because Master Marc is not the perfect Dom, he has insecurities, he knows he wants Angelina but does not feel he is the Dom she needs, so he tries to push her toward his friend Luke.  Luke realizes Angelina is the first woman he's wanted since the death of his wife, but he has a secret that might just keep them apart.  Angelina, has been a good Italian, Catholic girl. She has an interest in BDSM because of the erotic romances she reads, so she agrees to go with her boyfriend to a BDSM club.  Her boyfriend turns out to be an abusive dickwad and Angelina swears off BDSM for life.  When she meets up with Marc and Luke she is instantly attracted to both...but this good Italian Mama's girl doesn't do threesomes....or does she?

I really could empathize with Angelina, she is a strong confident woman, who would love for a man to just take care of her in the bedroom but let her be independent in the rest of her life. She has body image problems and major trust issues.  Reading her fears of submitting to a Dom and all the inner struggles she went through was insightful.  Master Marc worked my nerves with his withholding information from Angelina, especially when he demands honesty from her.  Luke was freakin' adorable, I can't wait to see the path Kallypso takes him on. Master Damian makes a small appearance in NA but from his appearance I can tell the boy has some serious things going on in his life and his story is going to be extremely emotional and dark.  AAAHHHHH  Master Adam and Karla...what a battle they are about to enter.  I LOVE the last couple of paragraphs of the book.  How EVIL of Kallypso to tease us like that. (CRAP did I really say Master Marc worked my nerves...why do I have a feeling I just earned a visit from Master Adam or Master Damian or both)

Nobody's Angel is a great read. Angelina and her brattiness is the perfect foil for Master Marc and even though he worked my nerves with his omissions, I was glad to see how they worked things out.  I LOVE how KM brings up the fact that many erotic romance fans romanticize BDSM. But points out that while the Power Exchange can be a beautiful thing when done right, there are way to many people out there playing around, acting like they know BDSM and so many abusing the power of a Dom and trust of a Sub.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR MASTER ADAM and KARLA's book in December.

SPECIAL NOTE:
I pride myself on honest reviews and while I LOVED Nobody's Angel and am confident in the rating I am giving it.  I feel the need to state the following:

There were some editing errors in the first release, Kallypso herself reported on her facebook that she found them as she was reading NA on her Kindle. She was upset with herself for the errors, apologized and said she was fixing them and re uploading to all three sites that are selling Nobody's Angel.

You may be asking why did I feel the need to go into all of that...well because of the rating I am giving NA, I am pretty sure some snarky reviewer out there may ding the rating they give because of the errors, but honestly the errors weren't  horrible, especially for a new author and she is FIXING them, told her fans about them before any of her fans even complained.  So I CHOOSE NOT to ding my rating for Nobody's Angel because of a few errors.

UPDATE - 10/16/11 - Edits have been done and uploaded =)
